According to Mr. Sachin Naik, a designer at XOLO, which is a sub-brand of Lava, said, “Also its our 1st Android One design completely in-house including ID.” When the first batch of Android One smartphones came out in September last year, it was totally conceptualized by Google. There was no involvement of the Indian OEMs in case of design and development. But, the second gen Android One has been manufactured in collaboration with Lava and MediaTek on both the hardware and software side. The new smartphone will have improved specifications (mid-range) and also an optimized OS (Android Lollipop) with applications and services co-developed by Google and Lava.”
Last year, Google has unveiled three Android One smartphones in India – Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V, and Spice Dream UNO. All these smartphones were recently updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop.
